Grooming

The Lagotto have hair, and hardly sheds, however their coat needs to be groomed out regularly to prevent it from becoming matted, tangled and uncomfortable. The treasure of the Lagotto Romagnolo is in their hair.

Because The Lagotto still a rare breed many Groomers do not know how to groom them like the original Standard, and probably you will need to do it yourself.

They ears are hairier to help prevent them from becoming waterlogged, but this extra hair can sometimes overgrown and cause a build-up of wax and debris so they may need to be remove periodically to prevent this problem.

You also need to be trimming their nails often, the Lagotti have naturally longer and curved nails than some breeds, you may have to go back to basics with getting them used to the trimming.
